| Trial Two - Hill Farm Lamb Finishing Trial - 300 Lambs GARETH OWEN divided the trial area (27.6 acres) into three equal parts. The object of the trial was to examine the benefits of Biocell in finishing lambs at grass, and the yeast was pelletised for trough feeding. Group 1: Pellets (no Biocell). Group 2: Pellets + Biocell. Group 3: Control All groups had access to minerals and salt licks. Lambs were weaned on 3rd August, and the matched groups were picked from 500 lambs. The 15.5% protein pellets were fed at 1kg per head/day. Observations: The Biocell group consumed less mineral, and cleaned up their feed. This group also grazed harder than the no Biocell and control groups. In addition, the lambs fed Biocell had significantly less scald (foot-rot). |
