Maintains stable rumen pH – Reducing the risk of acidosis
Increases numbers and activity of bacteria – Feed intake and DLWG is increased
Improves use of energy and protein – Enhancing carcass quality and killing out percentage
Converts lactic acid in high starch diets – Allowing more cereals in feed
Efficiency of rumen function increased – Improving feed conversion
Enhances enzyme activity – Stimulating fibre digestion
Reduces methane production – Reducing waste and increasing efficiency

Biocell farm mix is easily mixed in-feed or incorporated in TMR.

Trials carried out with different qualities of feed show that supplementing the feed with Biocell yeast significantly limits the pH drop in the rumen. This is seen when the diet is rich in starch and rapidly fermentable sugars.

Studies have also shown that the flow of microbial proteins leaving the rumen is increased, and that Biocell is able to limit the N degradability of protein from feed origin. This results in an enhanced supply of amino-acids entering the small intestine. Feeding Biocell farm mix increases the production of Volatile Fatty Acids in the rumen, improving fibre digestion.

All these microbiological and biochemical modifications of the rumen can improve productive performance in beef cattle, particularly growth, feed efficiency and carcass quality.

Available in 12.5kg bags, to be fed at 20g per head per day.

What the farmers say...

Steve, Ralph and Lesley Botterill buy over 600 strong steers and heifers a year to finish and sell deadweight. As margins are tight, it is a closely monitored enterprise with every animal weighed in and out. Daily liveweight gain and margins are calculated for every animal.

On average the cattle are on the farm for 100 days. For the first seven weeks they are fed a low starch diet, and for the last seven weeks they are fed ad-lib with a barley – based ration and Biocell farm mix added at 2kg per tonne.

Lesley says: 'Since adding Biocell to the finishing barley ration, our cattle have broken all records. The DLWG has increased on average by 0.2kg from 1.3kg to 1.5kg per head per day. That’s over 100 days, and the best cattle are gaining 1.8kg. The feed consumption is the same as before, so Biocell farm mix is significantly improving feed conversion, and my £2.35 is turning into £20 very quickly'.

Biocell farm mix fed at 20g per head per day = 5.6p. Finishing period (42 days) = £2.35, Increased weight gain = 20kg = £20.00 extra margin per head.

Holstein cross Belgian Blue steers and heifers average 575kg at 13 months and we achieve top condition scores with our Limousin steers and heifers, averaging 550kg. Biocell farm mix in our home-mix ration gets our Limousin heifers to 500kg in 12 months. We monitor our animals through to slaughter and get the best prices, with steers killing out at up to 62%.
